How to play
A murder mystery party is a night where every guest plays a character. A crime has been committed, everyone is a suspect, and only one is guilty. Here is how it works.
A week before
The host picks the roles for the number of guests (the book tells you which ones to keep), then sends each guest their invitation: their character, a few words about them and a suggested outfit.
On the night: 30 minutes of preparation
- Print the host's book, character files, case files and cards (a home printer is enough).
- Slip each character file into an envelope with the character's name.
- Sort the case files by act: they arrive during the evening.
The evening, in three acts
The host reads the texts from the book aloud. In each act, new evidence lands on the table: statements, photos, messages, bank records. Players question each other, compare stories and lie to protect their secrets.
Only the killer may lie about the facts. The questioning cards force a suspect to tell the truth.
The final accusation
Each player names the killer and explains why. Then the host opens the solution, kept in a separate file, and reads what really happened.
The host can play
The book never reveals the killer. The host can keep a character and investigate like everyone else.
What you need
- A printer (colour recommended, black and white works) or a tablet.
- A phone to scan the voicemail QR codes.
- Envelopes, and a taste for mystery.
